If you have never ordered dreadlock extensions before — you are in the right place.
By the time you finish this page, you should feel confident choosing your base type, texture, quantity, and length. If you still feel unsure at the end, that’s completely okay — I’m always happy to help guide you.
Let’s break it down step by step!

Step 1: Choose Your Base
DE (Double Ended) vs SE (Single Ended)
Double Ended Dreadlock Extension - A double ended dread is one long extension folded in half, creating two hanging sides.
The length listed on my website is the folded length.
When installing, you braid one side into your natural hair, leaving both ends hanging.
This option gives you double the volume.
Installing 40 DE dreadlocks will give you 80 hanging ends.
DE sets are ideal if:
- You love fullness and texture
- You want a dramatic or voluminous look
- You’re installing for a temporary braided style
If you are brand new to dread extensions and planning a full head, I recommend starting around 45 DE so your scalp can adjust to the added weight.
Single Ended Dreadlock Extension - A single ended dread is one full extension with an attachment loop at the top.
SE dreadlocks are lighter in weight and often recommended for clients with finer or thinner natural hair.
All SE dreadlocks are made with an attachment loop.
They can be braided in or used as accent pieces within a set.
If you are planning a crochet (semi-permanent) install and would prefer loose tops instead of loops, simply leave that in your customization notes at checkout.
Material: I use high grade Henlon synthetic fiber.
There is:
- No chemical coating from the supplier
- No Kanekalon
- No “Barbie” plastic feel
I do not apply any additional products or chemicals to your extensions.
For best results, I recommend soaking your dreadlocks in water with a splash of apple cider vinegar before installing. Rinse thoroughly and hang to air dry.
All pre-curled hair used in wavy styles is high grade Rebecca fiber. It is soft, silky, and has beautiful movement.
My goal is always realistic texture without sacrificing comfort.
Step 2: Choose Your Extension Style
There are two categories: Base Extensions and Accent Extensions.
Base extensions make up the structure of your set. Accent extensions add texture and personality.

Type of Base Extensions:
Crochet
Created using a crochet method for a natural, mature look.
This style lasts the longest and gives the most realistic appearance.
Twisted (Twist & Seal)
Also called standard twisted locs.
Clean, uniform, and slightly lighter in structure.
Wavy Locs (Ariel Curl & Anna Wave)
Made with pre-curled fiber.
These can have a braided or crocheted center (offset for DE installs).
They require higher maintenance and are best worn alone or mixed with a few accent pieces.
If you mix crochet, twisted, braids, spirals, and zigzags — your set will be very textured and full of dimension.

Type of Accent Extensions:
3-Strand Braid
Classic 3-strand braid with loose ends.
Accent Braid
Chunkier texture along the sides with loose ends.
Twist Braid
Two strands intertwined creating a twist with loose ends.
Accent pieces are perfect for adding movement, contrast, and personality to your set.
Step 3: Quantity & Fullness
Fullness is personal preference. Some clients love subtle peek-a-boos, others love full volume.
For Double Ended sets:
- Peek-a-boo / bottom accents: 5–10 locs (1-2 bundles)
- Partial: 5–20 locs (2-4 bundles)
- Half head shaved: 20–35 locs (4-7 bundles)
- Full head with undercut or bangs out: 40–50 locs (8-10 bundles)
- Full head: 40–65 locs (8-13 bundles)
Remember: 40 DE = 80 hanging ends.
If you’re unsure, I would rather you start slightly lighter with 45 DE (9 bundles) and add later than overwhelm your scalp.
For Single Ended sets:
- Peek-a-boo / bottom accents: 10–20 locs (2-4 bundles)
- Partial: 20–40 locs (4-8 bundles)
- Half head shaved: 40–70 locs (8-14 bundles)
- Full head with undercut or bangs out: 80–100 locs (16-20 bundles)
- Full head: 80–130 locs (16-26 bundles)
If you’re unsure, I would rather you start slightly lighter with 85 SE (17 bundles) and add later than overwhelm your scalp.
Step 4: Length
Available lengths:
18”
20” (mid back)
22”
24” (lower back)
To create the illusion of extra length, you can offset a double ended dread during install so one side hangs slightly longer.
If you are between two lengths, consider your height and torso length when deciding.
A Quick Note About Length & Color Placement:
For shorter lengths, I do need to trim the ends of the fiber while creating your set. If you choose an ombré, blended, or rainbow colorway, this can sometimes remove a small portion of the color that would naturally appear at the very bottom in longer lengths.
If you love seeing the full gradient effect, I recommend choosing one of the longer length options so the entire transition is visible.
